Discipline Policy
Ethos
Al-furat School is a caring community of students and staff who all agree to:
- Dedicate our time to improve ourselves and our friends
- Maintain courtesy and good behaviour
- Be proud of the school community
- Take responsibility of our own conduct
- Treat each other as we would want to be treated
School Rules
Courteous and considerate behaviour is expected to be shown by all students of Al-furat School at all times, both to staff and to each other. This underlies all the other school rules.
- Food must not be consumed inside teaching areas. Chewing gum is forbidden.
- Furniture and books must be treated with care, and graffiti must not be written on them. Students must report damage or breakages to a member of staff.
- Portable music players should not be used at school and mobile phones should be switched off. Failure to comply will result with confiscation, only to be collected by parents.
Attendance & punctuality
You will only make progress if you are present at school. If you are ill, you must ensure that your parents contact the school and inform a member of staff. You must always bring a note once you return.
Punctuality is one of the most important aspects of any school life. Students are expected to be on the school site by the time assembly begins at 9.30 am
Any student who is not punctual in this way will be required to attend a detention following a second unexplained late attendance.
If you arrive at school after your class has registered, you must report to the school office, and request to be registered.
Detention
If good behaviour is not maintained, it may be necessary for staff to detain students. This can be done in the following ways:
Break detention – The student will miss their break. This is an immediate punishment, that may be given for failure to complete homework or any bad behaviour
Suspension/Exclusion –
The student has repeatedly behaved badly, or committed a single serious incident. They will be suspended and considered for expulsion
